PRSA Capital Region NY Chapter Announces 2011 Board of Directors

(ALBANY, NYFebruary 8, 2011) The Capital Region NY Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America today is proud to announce its 2011 Board of Directors, as elected by chapter membership. The board manages and controls the business affairs of the chapter.

The general duties and responsibilities of the board of directors include leading the chapter by anticipating and assessing market and member needs, developing services and programs to meet these needs, establishing chapter objectives and formulating chapter policy to meet these objectives and ensuring that the business and affairs of the chapter are conducted in accordance with chapter and national bylaws and in the best interest of the members.

The board, led by President Penny Vavura, Senior Counselor for Pierce Communications, is comprised of an eclectic group of talented Capital Region professionals working within local public relations agencies, businesses, non-profits, and institutes of higher education.

The 2011 PRSA Capital Region NY Chapter Board of Directors includes:

Accreditation Chair – Mary Bray Gallagher, APR, Principal, Calliope Communications;

Programming Chair – Victoria Baecker, Development Associate, Unity House of Troy;

Communications Chair – Mike Lesczinski, Jr., Public Relations Manager, Excelsior College;

Membership Chair – Alicia Jacobs, President, AJ Management;

Assembly Delegate – Jason Forget, Corporate Reputation Manager, GE Energy;

Secretary – Rich Meddaugh, Public Relations Specialist, Sunmark Federal Credit Union;

Director-at-Large – Kathy Wren-Kirvin, Director of Business Development and Communications, Couch White, LLP;

Director-at-Large – Brian Tramontano, Independent Practitioner, Ph.D. Candidate, University at Albany;

To coincide with the board announcement, the chapter, which hosted the 2010 PRSA Northeast District Conference this past November, launched a new website: www.PRSACapitalRegion.org.
