2020 Digital Media Summit

October 21, 2020 - October 23, 2020

Free

Like most events this year, the 2020 Digital Media Summit is going, well…digital! In light of the ongoing pandemic, PRSA Capital Region will present a series of three, hour-long virtual sessions in lieu of our usual in-person summit. Mark your calendars for:

  • With the growth of digital and social media, a storytelling approach to branding is critical. Stories are inherently social and social media is all about building relationships. In order for your audience to form a personal connection with your brand, your stories must be honest, inspirational and real; connecting with engaging, useful content. In this talk with Capital Region BOCES Communications Program Managers Jodie Orzechowski, APR, and Steve King, you’ll learn the importance of a personalized approach to content creation. Click here to register.
  • We didn’t need The Social Dilemma to figure out that social media has become more of a minefield than ever. Overit Vice President of Strategy and Communications Paul Fahey moderates a discussion about how companies and individuals can best navigate business and personal communication amid the current landscape, including sensitivity towards topics like #metoo, Black Lives Matter, LGBTQ rights, anti-masking and the hot button political scene: with Khamali Brown, director of special projects, SEAT Center; Miriam Dushane, PHR, SHRM-CP, managing partner, Alaant Workforce Solutions; Rose Miller, SPHR, HR consultant/president, Pinnacle Human Resources, LLC, Times Union columnist; Catharine E. Potvin, founder/CEO, Stragility, LLC, NYS Certified WBE. Click here to register.
  • Today’s new cycle lasts no longer than a heavy sigh. Our harried partners in the media are juggling breaking news, conflicting reports, social media channels and more. B95.5 Program Director/Music Director/Morning Show Host Chad O’HaraMiles Reed, editor, Daily Gazette; and Benita Zahn, DPS, anchor/health reporter/producer/host, WNYT, will discuss how media outlets are coping with the chaos and best pitching and engagement practices for PR professionals trying to be heard against the din. Click here to register.

Please register for each event individually to receive the appropriate virtual meeting link(s).

Registration for the 2020 Digital Media Summit is free. In lieu of fees, participants are encouraged to contribute to the endowment of PRSA’s Multicultural Scholarship for students planning to enter the profession. To make a donation, visit this link.
