Scheduled Presentations
Session 1: Activate Your Audience
Ryan Hanley, Hanley Media Lab and TrustedChoice.com
Presentation Description
As an increasing number of PR practitioners begin to tell their own stories through “owned media” (content creation, content marketing, etc.), the risk of “content shock” – overwhelming your audience with too much content – is a realistic probability. This is especially true when practitioners mistakenly believe that every piece of content requires a “call to action.”
In this presentation, Ryan Hanley will discuss how to use your content creation to cultivate a passionate, empowered audience – and then activate them to act when the time is right.
About Ryan
Ryan Hanley is the Digital Marketing Lead for TrustedChoice.com, a digital marketing agency and lead generation platform serving over 22,000 independent insurance agencies across the nation. He is also the producer of the Content Warfare Podcast, one of iTunes most downloaded content marketing podcasts and soon to be published author of the book, Content Warfare: How to Find your Audience, Tell your Story and Win the Battle for Attention Online.

Session 2: Social Platform Strategy
Bryen Bushner, ZuzuPow
Presentation Description
There are so many social media platforms to choose from and it can become overwhelming trying to be on all of them, or at least figure out where your brand needs to be. Learn how to pick the best platform for your brand, how much energy and time needs to go into your chosen platforms, and how to always be evaluating other platforms to make sure you are where your audience is too.
About Bryen
Bryen Bushner, owner and chief innovation officer of ZuzuPow is a social media strategist and provides consulting services through his company. He also offers audio animation services for clients, because how your brand sounds is as important as it looks. Know to Albany-area radio listeners for years as “Darwin”, he worked on stations including 102.7 WEQX and the defunct 104.9 The Edge.
Bryen’s entire career has been spent communicating effectively with audiences he cannot see at all times. After leaving his job as an on-air talent, he helped launch editorially driven and brand-centric companion website for Townsquare Media. Prior to launching his own company full time, he served as the social engagement manager for the Albany Business Review.
A native of Hoosick Falls, Bryen graduated from the School of Communication at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, AZ. He will receive his Master of Arts in American History from American Military University, a distance learning college, later this fall. Bryen is also the Director of Development and Marketing for HAYC3, a non-profit focused on art and rural economic development.

Session 3: Google+ Strategy
Ann Smarty, Internet Marketing Ninjas
Presentation Description
It’s amazing how many people (as well as huge media publications!) have been announcing Google Plus dead for several years. There’s no other example among huge social media players that have been predicted to be a fail so many times. Many skeptics have been calling it a poor Facebook mirror. Others: another Google’s failed attempt to get into social media world…
Yet, Google Plus is not supposed to be a Facebook competitor. Nor its loyal fans will even agree to its being the walking dead… There are lots of people who have found their ways to enjoy Google Plus and benefit from it: Any marketer should learn to be one of those!
Google Plus is Google’s way to learn more about its users: How to best serve them? How to better personalize results? Google Plus is the way to help Google’s most outdated ranking signal – links – to understand more about what people think is high-quality content.
If you are not in Google Plus knowledge graph, you are losing out!
This presentation will include:
- What Google Plus knows about you? How to tell?
- How do Google Plus hashtags work and why does it matter?
- Are there any tools to help you establish your Google Plus presence?
