“Guard Times” Wins National Award – Magazine Run by #PRSAcap Member

PRSA – Capital Region is proud to announce that Guard Times, supervised by one of our own,  Lt. Col. Richard Goldenberg, was recently named the top National Guard publication magazine in the nation.

This was e-mailed to us from Eric Durr, Director of Public Affairs for the New York State Division of Military and Naval Affairs:

“Guard Times, a full-color 52-page magazine produced quarterly by the New York State Division of Military and Naval Affairs public affairs office in Latham has been named best National Guard magazine in the country by the National Guard Bureau Public Affairs Office.

Guard Times covers the activities of the New York Army National Guard, the
New York Air National Guard, the New York Guard and the New York Naval
Militia. The magazine, published under a Government Printing Office contract, is sent to the homes of 16,500 members of the Army and Air National Guard across the state. Another 2000 copies are distributed at the National Guard’s 52 armories and six Air National Guard facilities.

Army National Guard Lt. Col. Richard Goldenberg, a member of PRSA, serves as the National Guard Command Information Officer and is responsible for supervising the production of the magazine.

The annual competition judges publications based on content, design, writing quality, and their ability to tell the story of the Army and Air National Guard in each state.

There  are  54 state and territorial National Guard stretching from
Massachusetts to Guam in the Pacific.

The National Guard Bureau conducts a media competition annually and winning entries go on to compete in Army and Air Force media contests.

The New York National Guard’s winning magazine was recognized by the National Guard Bureau Public Affairs Office during  its annual training conference held May 2-6 in Reno, Nevada.”
