Happy New Year! In 2013, we had a great year of events and programs and we hope to continue our solid programming and networking events for the coming year.

In the coming weeks, the board will be determining new programs and initiatives for the year. Please feel free to contact me, or any of our Board members, with your suggestions. We host our programs for you, so we want to make sure we’re delivering exactly what you want! You find a list of board members with contact information and bios on the website here.

Additionally, I wanted to take a moment to urge you as a member to get more involved in the chapter. We have three great opportunities for you to get involved right now:

  • Author a PRSA blog post – Get published. We are seeking guest PRSA member bloggers for our blog. This is an opportunity for you to share best practices, insights, projects or other PR and communications related observations.
  • Host a PRSA event or workshop – We are looking for locations for workshops and events so if you have a facility and would like to host your PR colleagues send me an email.
  • Volunteer – The strength of our chapter is our volunteers. The board is looking for help with events, especially the Empire Awards, so please contact me or another board member if you would like to get involved with a committee or event.

Also, don’t forget that as part of your PRSA membership you have access to free webinars on a variety of topics. To see a list of upcoming webinars, visit: http://www.prsa.org/Learning/Calendar/list/date

Finally, this year is also the 50th anniversary of the Accreditation in Public Relations (APR). The national level of PRSA is also launching a new APR campaign to celebrate its 50th anniversary – so there will be even more resources available this year. We encourage you to learn more about the APR and we will provide materials and resources throughout the year at chapter events and through social media and blog posts.

I hope to hear from, and see, many of you very soon.
